As Canada’s oldest independent publisher, Goose Lane Editions has seen its fair share of awards seasons; we’ve witnessed great triumphs, been moved by powerful acceptance speeches, and have watched the careers of countless authors flourish as they receive the recognition they deserve on awards stages across the country. But this year? This may have been one of the best yet for our incredible authors.

Christopher Pratt was, for decades, one of Canada’s most prominent painters and printmakers. He died on Sunday, June 5th, at his home at Salmonier, Newfoundland and Labrador. Pratt was a beloved artist known for his paintings of landscapes, roadscapes, waterscapes, and buildings of Newfoundland and Labrador, which he painted with stunning, sometimes magical, precision.
This month, the Goose Lane Editions team is honoured to see ten of our books shortlisted for individual accolades from the Atlantic Book Awards, the Nova Scotia Book Awards, the New Brunswick Book Awards, the Manitoba Book Awards, and the League of Canadian Poets.
