Goose Lane Editions will publish the new graphic novel by celebrated artist Jon Claytor. Nowhere is a poignant and vivid story that follows Joel, a pre-teen who moves to a fictionalized version of Claytor’s hometown of Sackville, New Brunswick, where a giant cube has appeared on the edge of town. Soon, all sorts of monsters begin roaming the streets, including aliens, vampires, zombies, and clowns. Nowhere draws a blurred line between the real and the surreal, between fact and fiction.

Claytor is an artist, painter, filmmaker, and writer. He is the co-founder of Sappyfest, a well-respected independent East Coast music festival that began in 2006. Claytor’s memoir, Take the Long Way Home, was shortlisted for the New Brunswick Book Award for Non-Fiction in 2022.

“I am so gratified to be able to work with the very talented artist Jon Claytor on this honest, true, resonant work. To be breaking into the world of graphic novels with this particular story — rich in feeling, absurdity, poignancy, and beauty — is a delight and great honour,” said Bethany Gibson, fiction editor.

Nowhere marks the first graphic novel to be published by Goose Lane Editions, Canada’s longest-running indie publisher. It's set for publication in Spring 2026.
