Goose Lane Editions is over the moon to announce that celebrated writer PP Wong’s new book Anatomy of Freedom has been acquired by our fiction acquisitions editor, Bethany Gibson. This phenomenal novel is scheduled for publication in Fall 2025.

“I read PP Wong’s Anatomy of Freedomwith a mounting sense of excitement, immediately immersed, immediately charmed by the wit and complexity and force of the authorial vision,” Gibson said. “This is an accessible yet sophisticated novel that will resonate with readers on many levels. I am thoroughly delighted to be working with PP to introduce her work to the Canadian market.”

Anatomy of Freedom is a speculative novel set in two fictional countries with alternative histories. This clever, utterly convincing novel, marked by writing that is full of wonder, intelligence, and humour, dives into contemporary debates about freedom and free speech, technology and war, and much, much more.

Wong is a Vancouver-based author, screenwriter, and editor. Her debut novel, The Life of a Banana, was longlisted for the 2015 Women’s Prize for Fiction and was featured in The Guardian, The Independent, and Vanity Fair, among other notable publications.

“I am absolutely thrilled to work with the brilliant team at Goose Lane Editions,” Wong said. “From the very first email, I’ve been blown away by the warmth and passion every single person has shown for my novel. With a long track record of publishing thought-provoking and forward-looking narratives, not to mention the many prizes they’ve won along the way, I know I will be in the very best of hands.”

Congratulations, PP. We can hardly wait!
