We’ve spent the month celebrating la fête national de l’Acadie, and we hope you’ve enjoyed it (especially our 15% discount on our Acadian titles), but before the month is up, we want to remind you of an upcoming event: The Virtual Book Launch of Blaze Island, a novel by Catherine Bush.
We all miss a good old-fashioned book launch: book lovers gathered together in shared excitement, tucked into their friendly, local bookstore, book signings, refreshments. Well, we can’t hand you tea and coffee through the screen, but that won’t stop us from making a fabulous event! And it shouldn’t stop you from preparing whatever sweet treats you’d like before attending the launch this August 31st from 7:00-8:00 PM (EDT). Get your free tickets HERE and be notified when the event starts. You’ll also get a nifty link to the live stream hosted on both our and Another Story’s Facebook page.
Did you catch that? This book launch is hosted by Another Story Bookshop from Catherine Bush’s hometown of Toronto, ON!
We’ll be sure to bring you that wonderful community feeling every good book launch has. On that note, a launch isn’t complete without getting personal signed copies! Maybe you’ve already entered the Goodreads giveaway; either way, you can pre-order HERE to receive your personalized copy of Blaze Island. Just indicate in the notes section who it should be made out to.
We wanted to make sure we took as many of the best parts of a book launch as we could, but the added bonuses for being online? Blaze Island’s virtual launch will include the screening of a short film!
“We Are Islands,” by filmmaker Mike Hoolboom, was done in collaboration with Fogo Island photographer Paddy Barry and artist M’Liz Keefe. This screening is just the kickoff of events. We will also have a reading from the author and an interview with Kathryn Mockler. The publisher of the climate-themed website Watch Your Head and editor of the forthcoming Watch Your Head anthology, Kathryn will definitely have a knowledgeable and interesting take on the book. We can’t wait to hear what questions she has ready for Catherine. Of course, keep your questions coming too because this launch wouldn’t be complete without you!
Ready to make that special connection with a book we’re sure you’re already excited about? Mark your calendars for August 31st! We’ll be waiting for you.
